Kate Kalamaga, owner and founder of Tropicalboat Charters, announced that the company partnered with The Kelsey B. Diamantis TS Scholarship Family Foundation, Inc., dba Dollars 4 Tic Scholars, to award the 2016 Dollars 4 Tic Scholars Tourette Syndrome Scholarship Sponsored by Tropicalboat Charters, Inc. to student Jakob Charles Rose of Solon, OH. Rose is attending the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, OH with a major in Animation.
Ms. Kalamaga commented, "I am definitely a big supporter of education. Having gone through four years for a Bachelor's degree, two years for a Masters, and three years for a PhD myself, I know how expensive it is and am happy we could make a difference. We are happy to give back to the community, and to this wonderful foundation!" She continued, "We foresee a continued relationship with this growing non-profit, and are committed to supporting these students by sponsoring scholarships in future award years."
Dollars 4 Tic Scholars is a 501c3 non-profit organization established in 2014 to award college scholarships to deserving students who have Tourette Syndrome who may have extra costs associated with attending college. In 2015, the charity awarded three scholarships, and in 2016, awarded five college scholarships to students around the country, including the one from Tropicalboat Charters.
Established in 2004, Tropicalboat Charters hosts charter yacht trips with experienced captains and crew in Miami, South Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean with a fleet of over 2000 mega yachts, motor yachts, sport fishing yachts, party boats, sailing yachts and speed boats. Day charters, week charters and longer vacation charters are offered complete with catering, tenders, wave runners and a full host of amenities.
"Tropicalboat provides exhilarating adventures for our clients through our luxury yacht charters," noted Kalamaga. "Whether it is a half day outing for two in Miami, a birthday or graduation party, or a seven-day exotic Caribbean charter, we take care to make the yacht charter an adventure to remember. Just like our clients and their desire to have a wonderful experience, these students with Tourette Syndrome deserve to have a college experience that is "smooth sailing." I know that students with Tourette Syndrome may have extra college costs due to their condition, and many are leery of attending school at all due to their disability and the social stigma associated with it. We are proud to help provide financial assistance toward the adventure of college for students who have extra challenges like Tourette Syndrome. "
