CLEVELAND, May 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Last spring, Troy-Bilt® introduced FLEX™ – a first-of-its-kind, customizable yard care system that changed the way homeowners bought and used outdoor power equipment. With one engine that accepts multiple attachments, the popular FLEX system introduced three new attachments this spring.
The FLEX Dethatcher, FLEX Plug Aerator and FLEX Water Pump now join the original attachments – the FLEX Wide-Area Mower, FLEX Leaf Blower, FLEX Snow Thrower and FLEX Pressure Washer – exclusively at Lowe's® stores across the country.
The fast-growing FLEX system was recently honored by the Edison Awards with a gold award in Home Tools & Maintenance. Originally established in 1987, the Edison Awards have recognized and honored some of the most innovative products and business leaders in the world, and is among the most prestigious accolades honoring excellence in new product and service development, marketing, design and innovation.
FLEX Dethatcher
Thatch is the layer of living and dead organic matter that occurs between the green matter and soil surface in a lawn – which can include grass stems, roots, clippings and debris that settle on the ground. It is a natural consequence of a healthy lawn, but when thatch builds up to high levels, it can block air, water and sunlight from the grass and inhibit its growth. It can also make your lawn more susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
For tough jobs, a dethatcher can cut thick thatch and bring it up to the surface for removal. The FLEX Dethatcher covers more ground in fewer passes, combing your grass with 7.5-inch, zinc-coated, double-torsion spring tines. It offers six different height settings to ensure quality performance through all types of grass.
FLEX Plug Aerator
An important component to improving soil quality is aeration – which involves removing plugs of soil from the lawn to reduce soil compaction, plus allow air, water and nutrients to reach grass roots. Using an aerator also promotes deeper root growth, making your lawn thicker and less vulnerable to drought.
The FLEX Plug Aerator has a 28-inch operating width engaging sixteen, 12-gauge galvanized steel plug spoons that manually rotate to extract soil plugs as deep as two inches. The integrated weight trays accommodate several weight sources commonly found around the home – like cinder blocks or paver bricks – which will help dig even deeper.
FLEX Water Pump
A water pump is a helpful tool to have around the house for jobs such as draining a pond or removing water from a basement after a pipe burst.
The high-performance FLEX Water Pump has a 120 gpm (gallons per minute) max water flow rate and a 20-foot reinforced suction hose designed to supply water to the pump in all appropriate pumping applications. The water surge is subsequently discharged through a 25-foot flat discharge hose, with up to 80-foot total lift and 20-foot suction lift. It can work in a variety of positions, high and low. Additionally, unlike most water pumps, the FLEX Water Pump comes with all pieces and parts, including hoses, all couplings and integrated storage to keep everything in one place – so it's ready to go wherever and whenever it's needed.
