Trump Tax Plan, Economy Helps United Yacht Sales Grow More Than 40% In 2018
STUART, Fla., Jan. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- United Yacht Sales, the world's largest professional yacht brokerage firm with more than 150 yacht brokers worldwide, reported that sales increased more than 40% in 2018. United credited several factors for the increase in revenue, specifically President Trump's changes to the tax code that allowed for the entire purchase price of a yacht to be deducted when used for business purposes. Numerous, positive economic indicators and high consumer confidence were also mentioned as factors for the successful year.
"We had a very good year," said Peter Schmidt, owner and CEO of United Yacht Sales. "We believe President Trump had a lot to do with that. In spite of market fluctuations, the Dow Jones had an average closing price of over 25,000 which helped drive up consumer confidence. We had multiple customers decide to purchase a boat because they were able to deduct the purchase price on their taxes which is something they were unable to do previously. The Trump Economy has so far been good for our business."
