truwhip Asks Fans to "Crack the Whip" With Recipe Contest
The Natural Dessert Topping To Take On Local Hunger With Consumer Recipe Contest
BOISE, Idaho, Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- truwhip, the only 100% all-natural frozen whipped topping, announced today that it has plans to "whip up" the world of recipe contests with the "Crack the Whip" Recipe Contest, launching this month. Fans and consumers will be asked to come up with winning recipes in four different categories, while helping to raise awareness of the need to combat hunger in our communities.
From fruity and chocolaty to savory and saucy, truwhip is asking consumers to put down the whips and chains and roll up their sleeves to develop the best creations their home kitchens can muster. Winners will receive prize money, enjoy a year's supply of truwhip (not all at the same time) and get the chance to have their recipe published on the truwhip website. Each winner's local food bank, or non-profit of choice, will also receive a donation in their name.
"We know our consumers are not your average artificial whipped topping kind of people," said Doug Oppenheimer of Peak Foods. "Our fans are not afraid to crack the whip and be really creative with how they use our products – in the kitchen or elsewhere. This 'Crack the Whip' Recipe Contest will allow our fans to showcase their creativity, while at the same time, shine a light on the very important issue of hunger in our communities."
The "Crack the Whip" contest will ask fans to create recipes in one of four categories: fruity, gooey and chewy, savory (think similar to yogurt or sour cream sauces for main courses) or the unexpected (good taste only, please!). Recipes can be submitted online now through February 14, 2012. Four winners will be chosen representing each category, and announced April 16, 2012.
"We have no doubt that our fans will come up with some pretty exciting recipes," said Oppenheimer. "It's the unexpected category that worries us. Call it fascination with all things whipped topping, but we're encouraging our fans to submit their recipes with a photo of the creation along with telling us how they cracked the whip to help end hunger."
