
TUCSON, Ariz., Nov. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Tucson's urban street festival, 2nd Saturdays, is gearing up for its holiday-themed event on Saturday, December 11, from 4pm-9pm.

Downtown Merchants will create a festive atmosphere with holiday decorations. The public is invited to vote on the best-dressed windows, with a variety of prizes for winning merchants, including a round-trip airfare anywhere in the U.S. for first place. The Old Pueblo Vintage Fire Brigade will also be down with their classic fire trucks decorated for the season!
A "Horrible Holiday Sweater" contest happens from 6pm-9pm at Rockin' Queen, 45 S. 6th Avenue, with Rockin' Queen's owner Lizette Trujillo as the judge. Some of the prizes from Downtown merchants currently include a $20 gift certificate to Enoteca; a $20 gift certificate to Rockin' Queen; 10 free classes from O2 Modern Fitness; a signed, original art poster by Sacred Machine's Daniel Martin Diaz; a G-Heaven dress from Hydra and a free smoothie from Xoom Juice.
MEB Management, 120 E. Congress Street, hosts a Downtown North Pole with Santa Claus, his elves and photo opportunities from 5:30-8:30pm. A screening of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" will take place at the kids' lot on Congress Street between Scott and Stone Avenues along with a special wintery-weather event complete with artificial snow and Zero Gravity jumping.
Along Congress Street, living statues by Parasol Project and stilt walkers from Tucson Circus Arts will continue to delight the crowds, along with holiday music from local artists. Odyssey Storytelling will be wandering about with its StoryArts Cart between 5:30pm-7:30pm, encouraging attendees to speak on the theme of Holiday Stories.
The outdoor Scott Avenue Stage hosts bands from 5pm-9pm with Lunar Light Collectors (5pm-6pm), Jazz Telephone (6:15pm-7:30pm) and Kristen Chandler (7:45-9pm). The Fox Theatre, 17 W. Congress Street, features Five Way Street paying tribute to Crosby, Stills and Nash in a free concert starting at 7pm.
At the Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress Street, it will be the third night of The Great Cover Up – an annual fundraiser for Tucson Artists & Musicians Healthcare Alliance. Admission is $8, with $2 off for a donation of two cans of food for the Tucson Community Food Bank. The show starts at 5:30pm.
