BOGOTA, Colombia, June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Agricultural and Environmental Corporation of the Americas, Corpoagro, awarded President and CEO of Globalmedia Telecommunications Juan Gonzalo Angel Restrepo and its Television channel TvAgro for their work in building an atmosphere of growth and education of Colombian agriculture through the exercise of journalism. With a congratulations message from the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Juan Camilo Restrepo, to the corporation Corpoagro, TvAgro CEO Juan Gonzalo Angel Restrepo was awarded a scroll with a medal, which represents the Order of the "Golden Seed." The award was given for the work done by the TV channel TvAgro within the agricultural sector.
Mr. Angel said during his speech, "This is recognition for our commitment with the Colombian farmers. We will continue our constant effort and we will innovate every day. This recognition cheers us up, and obviously commits us much more to improve the content of our channel everyday."
TvAgro is the first Colombian television channel that broadcasts 24 hours of content on agricultural issues, 7 days a week. The focus is on teaching and using the TV to bring knowledge to the field workers, in particular to ensure the dissemination of the latest technologies and more efficient production systems that have been developed not only in Colombia, but throughout the Andean region.
TvAgro currently has presence in 16 Hispanic speaking countries, and by January 2012 they have already accumulated 6 million subscribers. They hope that the number increases by 2013 by two million more.
Globalmedia, the company that owns TvAgro, also operates three more channels. Two are music channels called RumbaTv and Telenostalgia. NovaTV was released starting this year, and is a channel focusing on selling products to home TV viewers.
