ORRVILLE, Ohio, April 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the makers of Jif® Peanut Butter announce the winners of the Jif New Classics Recipe Contest. Hundreds of home chefs from across America submitted recipes that put a delicious, peanutty twist on classic dishes. Two grand prize winners were selected, each receiving a $10,000 kitchen makeover.
Bold Thai spices were combined with Jif Extra Crunchy Peanut Butter to help the winning dish Peanutty Chicken Pad Thai Sliders stand out, earning Sonya G. from Moorhead, MN the Grand Prize in the Savory category.
"I entered the contest because I had created a new take on an old favorite: the hamburger," said Sonya. "When you think of peanut butter, you typically think of a sandwich, but a burger just stretches that idea."
The winning recipe from the Sweet category was submitted by Mary M. from Montgomery, AL. Her Peanut Butter Baklava with Maple Syrup provides a fresh take on a classic dessert with the addition of the rich, peanutty taste of Jif Creamy Peanut Butter.
"I always have Jif in my pantry - I eat it by the spoonful," said Mary. "I was inspired to create this dish after attending a Greek community festival. I served it to my family and they agreed I had a hit!"
