LONDON, March 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
uberlife, the new location-based, socializing app and community to help people hang out more easily and frequently in the real world with their friends, network and new like-minded people around them, launched their iPhone app at South by South West interactive festival earning their place in the press amongst this years must have apps.
The eight-week-old startup chose SxSWi as the perfect setting to debut their app to the US digital community and it was a move that proved worthwhile with an overwhelmingly positive response from journalists and influencers in attendance.
CNET named uberlife as one of the "hottest new aps out of SXSW", while the New York Times praised the app for helping users organize "pop-up hangouts" while at the conference.
In the lead up to and during SxSW, uberlife saw their userbase and usage scale up by 50% as people signed up to discover and join SxSW "hangouts" outside conference sessions. Hangouts that took place ranged from post-session drinks discussing topics like social media and design, as well as more casual hangouts like taco crawls, playing pinball and checking out bands.
Worldwide advertising agency network BBDO and Proximity World's Digital Lab TV channel interviewed CEO and founder, Sanchita Saha, on how uberlife could create value for brands and there were several reachouts during the conference from a global beer brand and festival sponsors immediately after it aired.
Conference speakers and bands wanting to connect with fans during the music festival also made good use of the app with international DJs Gabriel and Dresden and alternative electronica band Shiny Toy Guns amongst those hosting 'meet & greet' hangouts with fans in between their gigs at SxSW.
Sanchita Saha CEO and Founder of uberlife commented:
"SxSW provided an incredible opportunity to debut and test our app on the early adopter and influencer crowd - we saw a lot of people having a lot of fun with it and the feedback was awesome.
We're also taking back a lot of learnings and excited to feed this into our next iterations to keep making the experience better for our users.
It's been super cool to see the different ways uberlife was used at SxSW, by speakers and bands, and the interest we gained from brands is something we'll be looking to explore further too."
