NEW YORK, Nov. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ubersmith, a global leader in billing, monitoring, automation and support software for the cloud, software-as-a-service (SaaS), hosting and colocation, today announced that Kurt Daniel has been named the company's general manager. In this role, Daniel will lead Ubersmith's engineering, sales, marketing, business development, support and operations teams to increase adoption of the company's business and infrastructure solution platform.
Founded in 2002, Ubersmith already serves hundreds of cloud, SaaS, hosting and colocation companies worldwide, including Atlantic Metro Communications, Continuum Data Centers, FDC Servers, SingleHop and Ubiquity Hosting. Ubersmith's software combines recurring and usage-based invoicing tools with data center infrastructure automation. The software provides a facilities-based, top-down view of these important resources, allowing for location-based inventory tracking, searchable views by device type and organization of companies' monitors and custom device data.
Over the last decade, Daniel has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to successfully lead fast-growing software and cloud companies. Most recently, Daniel served on the senior management team for MongoDB, where he led the company's cloud monitoring and backup services business and online business while also overseeing corporate strategy, business development and marketing. During his tenure, Daniel and his organization helped grow MongoDB cloud services adoption, launch the online business and establish MongoDB as the leading NoSQL database.
Before MongoDB, Daniel served as the chief operating officer for Worklight, a mobile software company, which was successfully acquired by IBM. Prior to this, Daniel was a senior vice president of virtualization company Parallels, where he was instrumental in growing the company's revenue from $3 million to $100 million while leading marketing, business development and corporate development and the online business. Daniel's earlier roles included lead product manager at Microsoft and business analyst at A.T. Kearney, which was acquired by EDS.
