IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the institution's proactive response to answer the need of offering higher education at a lower cost, the University of California, Irvine Summer Session announced a new 'Pay for Only 8' enrollment incentive to all current and incoming University of California (UC) students. The 'Pay for Only 8' program will allow UC students to enroll in full-time studies and receive credits of up to 20 units during the three summer school periods, Session I, Session II, and a 10-Week Session. Students will be required to pay for only eight units – which equate to part-time fees. Early registration via online or mail begins on March 1.
"This eight-unit fee cap special program only available through Summer Session provides financial assistance for students who recognize the value of studying full-time – allowing them to make progress toward their degrees," said Gary W. Matkin, Ph.D., dean of Continuing Education, Distance Learning and Summer Session. "As we collectively continue to recover from some difficult financial years, in which the cost of education increased, UC Irvine has chosen to make it possible for students to make full use of the resource that exists in summer programming."
UC Irvine Summer Session offers more than 800 courses from over 70 academic disciplines. Open to students of all UC campuses and incoming UC students, participation in summer programming allows students to stay on track with their graduation timeline or graduate even sooner. With more than 40 online classes offered across 17 different departments, UC students can take UC Irvine courses from home or anywhere else. Financial aid for summer studies is also available. Students are encouraged to contact the financial aid office at their home campus for more information.
The Summer Session course preview is now available at www.summer.uci.edu. Early registration via online or mail begins on March 1. In-person registration will start on April 1. For more information about the 'Pay for Only 8' incentive, please visit www.summer.uci.edu or call 949-824-5493.
