UHWK and Canadian Women's Hockey League to Host First Ever Professional POV Sports Game
KITCHENER, ON, Feb. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ - UHWK (www.uhwk.com) a sports technology start-up company, announced today the use of their wearable video camera, the UHWK Show, in the first ever professional game where players don a POV camera. Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) welcomed the opportunity to be the first to allow the technology to be worn during a regular season game. Conceived and created by roommates and teammates, Shea Kewin and Tim Priamo, the camera is the first of its kind, a curved and low profile wearable video camera designed by athletes for athletes.
The game between Brampton Thunder and Calgary Inferno will take place Sunday, February 21st at 1:30pm at Brampton Memorial Arena, and will feature players wearing the UHWK Show camera, capturing in-game footage from their own unique point of view.
Used already in practice by the Brampton Thunder, the Show has been a hit with Head Coach Tyler Fines. "Being the first pro team to use UHWK is a privilege. It's a game changer for a lot of players and coaches. You can do a lot with what this product can do; it's good for players and good for analytics. The quality makes it great; in full HD, you can see the release point on the stick, you get to see the environment, the drills. But, It goes beyond players, as a coach if I want to wear one and watch a play back I can. It's very impressive."
Players alike were impressed with this new technology. "It was super HD; it was in focus the entire time, you could see and hear everyone," said Rebecca Vint, #12 Brampton Thunder. "You can look back on moments and we could all learn how to right our wrongs. You can take any given drill and narrow it down to how you can make it better. It's like you're living the moment again. It can make you a better player. "
"We are thrilled to be partnering with the CWHL to bring the first ever POV professional sports game to hockey fans," said Shea Kewin, President, UHWK. "The CWHL is a league that is leading the game with a lot of momentum, and we are excited to see the game from the players' point of view for the first time."
The UHWK Show uses first person point of view video to improve situational analysis and spatial awareness, embodying the essence of an athlete, and making for the ultimate training companion. Developed on the ice, but applicable to all other sports and recreational activities, the wearable video camera is for everyone from the professional to the little leaguer. Whether used in game, during training, or for leisure, the UHWK Show captures the magic of a moment and allows users to easily share these vivid and unique experiences with others by uploading via SD card or USB cable.
UHWK is now shipping all Kickstarter orders and the UHWK Show can be purchased online at www.uhwk.com
