Shoe-tech upstart now featured in Nordstrom and Shoes.com
ATLANTA, June 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A new type of shoe technology, pioneered by fashion upstart UKIES, gained traction recently by changing what women expect from high-fashion footwear. Now included in the women's line at both Nordstrom and Shoes.com, UKIES has been carving out a name for itself by engineering high-fashion footwear that's also comfortable — something the company believes women are ready for.
"You have this entire industry that says you can either look good or feel good, but not both," said Kavita Khaitan, co-founder and Creative Director, who founded UKIES with her husband. "We chose to look at it as an engineering problem, and we built the technology that wasn't there."
She says UKIES has a dual-layer shock-absorbing structure and materials inspired by premium athletic shoes. The design absorbs impact from each step, relieves pressure from the foot, and wicks away moisture — without departing from classic feminine styles.

"We have four different patents inside these shoes," Kavita added.

The most important thing, in Kavita's opinion, is that women don't have to suffer to look good.
"Being able to reinvent the way shoes have been made has been very rewarding. We were able to make technology and fashion work together; our shoes are so beautiful, you would never guess they are so comfortable."
