Unique Attractions Generate Excitement at New York Auto Show; New Motorsports, Motorcycles and Accessories Area Added for '13

NEW YORK, March 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2013, The New York Auto Show features more 'special attractions' for visitors to enjoy than ever before including an all-new Motorsports, Motorcycles and Accessories area on Level 4.  The Show's outdoor ride-a-long program includes Camp Jeep New York and an expanded Electric Vehicle Pavilion which features a range of pure electric cars for consumers to take a ride in. 

The Show's new Motorcycle display area includes Harley-Davidson, Honda, Chaos Cycle and Indian Larry bikes as well as amazing exhibits from Shelby American, Aston Martin Racing, CAN-AM, Cherubini Yachts, Gotham Dream Cars, D2 Forged Wheels & RTW Motoring.  Laurence Gartel, the father of digital art, will provide a range of stunning art cars on the opening weekend and the DUB Show Tour will once again return for the last weekend of the Show to reveal the latest 'tricked-out' cars and trucks.  For the kids, be sure to check out Strider Bikes, the Log Dog Truck and Big Daddy's Racing!

Electric Outdoor Ride and Ride
Show-goers will once again get to experience firsthand the future of electric vehicles as they were meant to be driven when the show moves its annual electric ride and drive pavilion outdoors!  Step out to the inner roadway to ride along in some of the coolest automotive environmental technology available in a production vehicle.  Now, available in every shape and size, automakers have proven that a vehicle's power source does not impact on its performance, practicality, drivability, luxury, economy or fun.  Cars onsite will include; Ford C-Max Energi, Ford Focus Electric, Honda Fit EV, Mitsubishi I, Nissan Leaf, and Toyota Prius Plug-in.

Shelby

2014 Corvette Convertible Stingray Debut!

Exotics, Exotics, Exotics
Always one of the biggest draws every year is the collection of exotic cars sprinkled throughout the show floor and show goers will not be disappointed this year with the chance to check out some of the coolest in exotic cars including Lamborghini, Spyker, Aston Martin, Maserati, Ferrari, Lotus and more!  Be sure to check out the 2013 McLaren 12C Coupe, Spider and Can-Am Edition.  2013 marks the second year of production for the MP4-12C coupe and the first for the MP4-12C spider, with retractable hard-top roof.  The latest model is equipped with a more powerful engine capable of 616 horsepower!

Measuring the 'BUZZ'
It's a new model year and the New York Auto Show is taking its unique BUZZ INDEX, the real-time radar for what is trending at the Show, to new levels. 'Defiance' Dodge Charger Saves Earth...From Aliens
Set in the near future, SyFy's new show Defiance introduces an exotically transformed planet Earth following the sudden – and tumultuous – arrival of seven unique alien races, along with the car to battle them.  Covered in grime and muck that shows the future has also lost the ability to produce competent car washes, the Dodge Charger in Defiance sure seems built to be punished.  Window bars, a huge grille guard right out in front to deal with nasty creatures, and big ol' truck tires to top off the rugged future look.  Look out for the Defiance video game that will be unveiled at the Show.

Experience the Thrill of Camp Jeep
One of the most unique and thrilling ride-along experiences to make an appearance in New York City, Camp Jeep is an interactive, tail-rated adventure zone where professional 4x4 drivers allow riders to get a feel for the full capabilities of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Unlimited model, while teaching them how to drive safely on off-road terrain. A "can't miss" hill climb will give passengers a sense of the traction capabilities of a Jeep vehicle, as they climb the iconic 18-ft high, 35 degree angle Jeep Mountain.  Auto show attendees will have the opportunity to traverse fallen logs measuring 15 inches in diameter and a 30-degree articulation wedge. The Camp Jeep outdoor test track is comprised of several obstacles which simulate the rigorous testing that Jeep vehicles endure such as rugged terrain, ground clearance, traction, stability, maneuverability and unchallenged articulation. Participants will be automatically entered into the 2013 Chrysler Group National Giveaway for a chance to win $45,000 towards any eligible Chrysler Group vehicle.

Hyundai Loves Kids!
Aside from having one of the most interactive booths on the show floor including the Hyundai Blue Link® Kiosk demonstration to gain an intimate, hands-on look at Hyundai's in-vehicle telematics system and the Veloster Zone: iPad® Game and Accessory Display that will highlight the Veloster's functional playfulness with videos and games, Hyundai will also be doing its part to help children. Families are encouraged to visit the Hyundai booth to receive a free "Hyundai Loves Kids" ID tag for their children. Each tag comes with its own child-size lanyard and has a place for parents to write their phone number in case their child gets separated from their family.  Additionally, they will host the Hope on Wheels Handprint Ceremony on Thursday, March 28th beginning at 6:00 pm in Hyundai's Booth (#604). During the ceremony, children diagnosed with cancer have an opportunity place their handprints in colorful paint on a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, the official vehicle of the Hope on Wheels tour, to commemorate their brave battles with cancer.  Hyundai's H.O.W. National Youth Ambassador, 14 year-old CJ, will join Hyundai Executives, dealers and doctors, in the Hyundai Scholar check presentation to support pediatric cancer research.

Honda Provides the Rides for Two Wheel Fanatics!
This year Honda will be bringing along some of the hottest things on two wheels including the NC700X.  Honda's new NC700X is a real breath of fresh air in today's world of specialized motorcycles, a new concept in streetbikes, and one that puts the FUN in Functional.  The NC700X's 670cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine produces tons of torque and enough power for easy two-up cruising. But it's thrify, too--the standard tranny NC700X gets an estimated 64 MPG.  Also available will be the CB500F and CB500X, the PCX150 as well as the CTX and CTX N.

2014 SRT Viper TA – Ready to Attack Any Road Course
Specifically built for the performance enthusiast driver the 2014 SRT Viper TA is set to make its public debut at the Show.   Based on the SRT Viper model – the lightest vehicle in the lineup, the 2014 SRT Viper TA package builds upon the legendary on-track capability of the American hand-built supercar using a majority of pre-developed components straight from the SRT stable, that are combined into a carefully balanced package that extracts the most out of the Viper ultralow center of gravity, 50/50 weight distribution and largest contact patch in the production car world.  Under the hood of the 2014 SRT Viper TA is the handcrafted, all-aluminum 8.4-liter, mid-front V-10 overhead-valve engine. Performance ratings are 640 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque – the most torque of any naturally aspirated sports-car engine in the world.

Gartel Art Cars Debut
Digital Media Artist Laurence Gartel will present his Collection of Art Cars at the Show for the first time during the opening weekend of the Show.  For this year's New York Auto Show GARTEL will showcase a 1982 Mercedes 380 SL, 1984 Rolls Royce Spirit, 2005 Chrysler 300, 1975 VW Beetle, 1956 Cadillac Sedan DeVille, and a 1963 Chevy Pick Up amongst others. These unique vehicles are expected to create a lot of buzz during the Show's opening weekend. The artist will also unveil a specially created 'Bling' car for the very first time.

D2Forged Wheels
For the first time at the show attendees will be treated to a display of over 75 wheel designs from leading high quality aftermarket wheels maker D2Forged Wheels.  Not to be regarded as just another wheel, D2FORGED Wheels provide a signature style and stance that cannot be mistaken for ANY other product when seen.  To show their wheels off correctly, D2 have a Maserati and a Ferrari on display.

Pirelli Simulators and Exotic Cars
Pirelli will be serving up non-stop action and excitement in their booth with 6 simulators giving attendees the full racing experience.  Strap in, rev you engines and try not to hit the wall.  As if that wasn't enough they will be hosting some of the hottest cars in the world including;

Wonder Woman Kia Sportage
Kia's unveiling of the new Wonder Woman inspired Kia Sportage at the show is sure to lasso in a fair share of showgoers.  As the seventh vehicle in the Korean automaker's lineup of Justice League cars, created in partnership with DC Entertainment, the custom Sportage features the initials WW embedded into the grille and star-shaped wheels that appear to mimic the design of her costume.

Dub Show Tour
Once again the Dub Show will roll into New York to help close out the show on a tricked out high.  Check out the latest new cars, wheels, auto accessories, apparel, video games and dozens of vendor booths alongside some of today's hottest artists and entertainers.  You will not find this many of the hottest custom cars & trucks anywhere else.

North East Customs
North East Customs will be displaying fully customized versions of a 2005 Dodge Magnum and a 2001 Volkswagen GLI that are so tricked out they will be sure to turn heads.  The 2005 Dodge Magnum is a one of a kind vehicle including a fully custom stainless steel exhaust system and custom polished wheels with plum crazy purple accents to match the paint and other modifications on the vehicle.  The 2001 VW GLI will feature a custom body with shaved body modifications a baby blue pearl paint job and custom BBS Porsche wheels as well as a complete custom exhaust system from Magnaflow Performance Exhaust.
