New Program Provides Scholarships That Inspire Kindness Innovation
NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- unite4:good (www.unite4good.org), the global movement for humanity, announces the recipients of scholarship4:good, a program that requires students to create their own project4:good centered on community engagement and acts of kindness. The ten scholarships awarded for the Fall 2014 academic semester will be used to fund tuition, on-campus room and board, books, and educational fees for ten students at Thurgood Marshall College Fund member-schools, which include historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Applications for the scholarship were accepted beginning August 1st. The following are the winners of the scholarship:

2. Ariyonia McCain — Winston-Salem State University
3. Chassidy Whitaker — Alabama State University
4. DeShaun Harris — Prairie View A&M in Texas
5. Donna Sewell — Howard University
6. Ericka Gregory — University of Maryland Eastern Shore
7. Garreth Hubbard — Alcorn State University
8. Jahmaal Gayle — Howard University
9. Kinvette Mangum — Alcorn State University
10. Martha Williams — North Carolina A&T State University
The scholarship recipients demonstrated kindness, leadership and initiative in many ways which included developing unique outreach programs that unite volunteers with those in need, mentoring and supporting children who require assistance, and performing acts of goodwill towards campus staff and faculty to go above and beyond in thanks to educators.
To be eligible for the scholarship, each potential recipient is required to be enrolled at a Thurgood Marshall College Fund member-school while maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and have an unmet financial need.
Potential scholarship recipients complete the scholarship4:good application, which includes a written, visual, or video submission that explains the applicant's acts of kindness in a community service activity or the applicant's significant leadership in a positive impact group activity currently or within the past four months.
