DUBLIN, August 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "US Market for Crowns and Bridges (Includes Inlays, Onlays and Veneers)" report to their offering.
Crowns and bridges are custom-designed hardware made from metal alloys and/or ceramic materials to restore tooth structure and are the most common prosthetic device used in dentistry. Crowns are used in situations where the tooth is heavily decayed and irreparable by mere filling(s). The cavities or decayed sites on the tooth are removed, and the tooth is shaved down into a stub for crown placement. Inlays and onlays are referred to as partial crowns because they are only used when tooth damage is not severe enough to warrant crown restoration. They are the least prevalent form of dental prosthetic in the United States. Inlays and onlays are custom made, and can be fabricated in a dental laboratory or in the dental clinic itself, if the dentist has a chairside CAD/CAM system. The placement of inlays and onlays requires nominal tooth preparation, making them more conservative in terms of preserving a patient's natural tooth structure compared to a crown restoration.
