UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team to Treat Grant Recipient to VIP Racing Experience
Special Day will Feature Behind the Scenes Action During AMGEN Tour of California
OAKLAND, Calif., May 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team has partnered with the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation to treat a young girl from Corona, Calif. to an experience she'll never forget. Adelynn, a 7-year-old battling severe hearing loss, will be the team's special guest on May 20 during the final stage of the race in Pasadena, Calif. Adelynn and her family will experience behind-the-scenes action as well as a meet and greet with the team.
Adelynn received a UHCCF grant to help pay for hearing aids, and recently received a second grant to put towards a new set of hearing aids. The grant has helped improve her hearing, speech and confidence.
In honor of children like Adelynn, the team unveiled a new uniform that both the men's and women's teams will wear during the AMGEN Tour of California. The uniforms, special for this race, will feature the logos and colors of the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation. The team will also place the foundation's logo on its support equipment throughout the Tour.
This is the first time the team will change its uniforms for a nationally televised world-class event. In addition to changing their team kits, the riders will give behind-the-scenes experiences to select children and families who have received UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation grants.
The UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation provides medical grants to help children gain access to health-related services not covered, or fully covered, by their family's commercial health insurance plan. Families can receive up to $5,000 annually per child, up to a $10,000 lifetime maximum, and do not need to have insurance through UnitedHealthcare to be eligible.

Over the past seven years, the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team has supported the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation in a variety of ways. The team has made cash donations, provided items for silent auctions and conducted team experiences. In all, the team has given over $400,000 in donations to the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation.
