University of South Carolina Engineering Students Gain Flexible Access to Critical Academic Software through AppsAnywhere Partnership

New Virtual Computer Labs at University of South Carolina's Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing Will Deliver Flexibility, Equity and Instructional Continuity with AppsAnywhere

CHARLOTTE, N.C. and COLUMBIA, S.C., Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- AppsAnywhere, the leading student-first application delivery platform for higher education, today announced that the University of South Carolina's Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing (MCEC) has selected AppsAnywhere to support its new Virtual Computer Labs initiative, expanding access to critical academic software for 5,000 engineering students.

Rather than relying on physical computer labs, MCEC students and instructors will be able to access required applications virtually using AppsAnywhere's application delivery platform. With AppsAnywhere, students can access software through a single portal while benefiting from multiple delivery methods designed to support both institution-owned and personal devices. The platform also helps address equity concerns by removing the need for students to have specialized hardware capable of running engineering applications.

Prior to selecting AppsAnywhere, the college conducted extensive research into available virtual lab and application delivery solutions. While traditional desktop virtualization platforms offered potential options, the college sought a solution purpose-built for the unique needs of higher education.

"Student success shouldn't depend on whether someone can get to a physical lab or afford a high-powered computer," Hull added. "Many of our students are completing complex projects and collaborating outside traditional class hours. The Virtual Computer Labs initiative will support students across MCEC's engineering and computing programs, including approximately 3,600 students with a related major and an additional 1,200 students enrolled in minors and courses requiring specialized software. Once AppsAnywhere is implemented, additional schools and departments will have the opportunity to select AppsAnywhere for their programs and students.
