LTE and LTE-A continue to make inroads into the global communications market, primarily due to the numerous benefits these technologies offer. While LTE's peak downlink speed can hit 300 megabits per second (mbps), LTE-A is theoretically capable of reaching 1 gigabit per second. Moreover, LTE's highest uplink rate is 75 mbps, whereas LTE-A's is 500 mbps. The complexity of the test features required is high and test equipment vendors must meet these needs while keeping solutions user-friendly, low-priced, and catering to both new and old standards.
Communications test equipment vendors will also have to provide for 5G, which will bring IoT to life. IoT is expected to make everything better, faster and more efficient, whether it is the automated testing of consumer devices, the designing, prototyping, deploying and monitoring of industrial systems or the development of next-generation wireless communications.
