UrtheCast Cameras Complete Testing, Ship To Baikonur Cosmodrome

VANCOUVER, Oct. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - UrtheCast Corp. (TSX:UR) ('UrtheCast' or 'the Company') is pleased to announce that both cameras — one high-resolution and one medium-resolution — have been shipped from Moscow, Russia, and are en route to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Together, the two cameras passed their second and final Acceptance Testing (AT-2) at the S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC Energia) and commenced shipping on Oct. 26, 2013.

"Shipping the cameras to the Cosmodrome is one of the final required steps toward providing the world with near-live imagery and video of Earth. The two cameras went through rigorous test cycles throughout their development and UrtheCast is pleased that this building phase was completed as anticipated, and on schedule. In addition to functional testing of the cameras' performance, numerous physical tests took place in preparation for the cameras' launch and eventual installation aboard the ISS.

Once received at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the cameras will be loaded into the payload of the Progress 53P spacecraft, which will launch to the ISS aboard a Soyuz rocket in late November, 2013.
