SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28: PHILADELPHIA FLOWER SHOW
Profile America — Sunday, February 28th. Gardeners all over the country are suffering from itchy green thumbs — and dreaming about flowers in bloom in just a few months. Those who live anywhere near Philadelphia can get an advance peak at spring beginning today, with the opening of the world famous Philadelphia International Flower Show. Some 265,000 winter-weary people are expected to jam the show before it closes March 7th. The hundreds of exhibits by noted floral arrangers and garden designers include plants from many countries — India, Brazil, and New Zealand among them. About a third of American households are actively engaged in growing flowers and well over a quarter enjoy landscaping. Profile America is in its 13th year as a public service of the U.S. Census Bureau.
