SUNDAY, MARCH 7: PET SITTERS
Profile America — Sunday, March 7th. It's a problem faced by many -- we love our pets, but today's hectic lifestyle often means leaving them alone for many hours. The problem gets worse when business travel is involved. That's why this is Professional Pet Sitters Week, a time to recognize those who provide care and attention to our companion animals when we can't be there. Professional pet sitters are accredited by an industry organization, and also are bonded and insured. In addition, they provide references so that the quality of their work can be checked. In the U.S., more than a third of households have at least one dog, while in just under a third, cats are the companion pet of choice. Four percent of homes own birds and nearly 2 percent keep horses. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau, conducting the 2010 Census beginning April 1st.
