FRIDAY, MAY 7: CENSUS TAKER ID'S
Profile America — Friday, May 7th. The 2010 Census is still underway. Households that did not mail back the census form they received in March may be visited this month by a census taker. Since many people are concerned about scams and identity theft, it is important to recognize an official census taker when he or she calls. A census worker will have an official identification badge. Many will also carry a black canvas bag marked with the words "U.S. Census Bureau." Census takers will ask the same 10 simple questions that are on the census form. They will never ask for bank, credit card or social security numbers. Also, they will never ask for money, or ask to come inside your home. You can learn more about the current census online at 2010.census.gov.
