U.S. Consumers Received Over 4.8 Billion Robocalls in March 2025, According to YouMail Robocall Index

Monthly Robocall Volume Jumps More Than 12% From March 2024

IRVINE, Calif., April 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. consumers received just over 4.8 billion robocalls in March, marking a 7.9% increase from February, according to YouMail's latest Robocall Index.  

March averaged 155.0 million robocalls/day and 1,794 robocalls/second, down 2.5% from February's average of 159.0 million robocalls/day and 1,840 robocalls/second. This means almost all of the increase in March was due to March having three more days than February. However, this was a 12.7% increase on a year-over-year basis from March 2024.

"Robocall volume in March continues the trend of 2025 starting off at a monthly volume roughly 10% higher than the same period in 2024." said YouMail CEO Alex Quilici. "This trend is not what consumers were hoping for, and there continues to be a need for apps and services that protect consumers."

These latest figures are provided by YouMail, a totally free app to protect consumers from unwanted or dangerous calls, texts, and voicemails. The figures are determined by extrapolating from the robocall traffic attempting to get through to YouMail's millions of active users.

All Categories of Robocalls Increased in March

March's Robocall volume saw a rise in all categories; however, the overall make up of robocalls didn't change during the month.   Unfortunately, due to the volume increases, there were almost 2.6 billion unwanted spam and telemarketing calls, making up 54% of all the robocalls in the month.

March 2025's Most Annoying Robocalling Campaign

The most problematic robocall campaign in March targeted people to switch to high-deductible medical plans, like calls from this number, which leaves messages roughly like this:

This call campaign is problematic because of a high volume of calls, appearing to exceed fifty million in March, originating from hundreds of thousands of different numbers. The calls do not clearly identify the company calling.  Further, based on consumer feedback, they appear to target people who never contacted the company or requested a call.
