U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Verizon Team Up to Support Small Minority Businesses
Partnership will support Hispanic and other minority entrepreneurs' participation in executive education programs offered by Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business
WASHINGTON, Dec. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USHCC Foundation) and Verizon announced the first recipients of their Minority Business Enterprise Fellowship scholarships. The Minority Business Enterprise Fellowship was established this year by both entities to accelerate the growth of Hispanic and other minority businesses by allowing minority business leaders and entrepreneurs to participate in one of the prestigious executive education programs offered by the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
"We are excited to partner with Verizon to further the USHCC Foundation's mission of supporting current and future Hispanic business leaders and entrepreneurs through lifelong learning and support," said Elva Lima, interim Executive Director of the USHCC Foundation. "By giving Hispanic and other minority business leaders the opportunity to participate at no cost in an ivy-league executive education program, it will broaden their understanding of how to grow their business and allow them the opportunity to network with minority business leaders from across the nation, which is an invaluable experience."
The recipients of the Minority Business Enterprise Fellowship scholarship include executives from the following businesses:
- Integra Advanced Technology Services
- Colonial Press
- Metrocell Construction
Together, they represent minority-owned businesses at the forefront of telecommunications infrastructure and construction, technology integration, full-scale digital printing, and marketing.
The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition in one of Tuck's minority business executive education programs at Dartmouth, as well as housing and other expenses. Specifically, the fellowship recipients can enroll in Tuck's Building a High Performing Minority Business or Growing the Minority Business to Scale programs. Over the past 38 years, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth has been developing diverse businesses around the country. All programs are designed to meet the needs of CEOs and senior leaders of diverse businesses by helping them find solutions to the challenges small business owners face daily and convert them into increased profits and better results.
"When we thought about the right entity to partner with to support the growth of minority business leaders and entrepreneurs, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation was the clear choice for us," said Tiffany Williams, manager of Supplier Diversity for Verizon. "They have a track record of delivering innovative programs that serve Hispanic and minority small businesses and entrepreneurs. We look forward to this collaboration."
