U.S. Navy Awards JKM Manufacturing $8.5 Million Contract for Naval Surface Warfare Center

EUFAULA, Ala., Oct. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- JKM Manufacturing, Inc., announced today that it has won an $8.5 million Navy contract to provide cable assemblies and wiring harnesses for various weapons systems in support of the Naval Air Systems Command, the Naval Sea Systems Command and the U.S. Special Operations Command.

JKM is a leading manufacturer of complex wire harness assemblies, rugged electronic systems, circuit card assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies and other specially engineered products. JKM General Manager Lexington W. Scroggins said the $8.5 million Navy contract is for five years and is a firm-fixed price IDIQ (indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity) award.

Scroggins said work will be performed at JKM's plant in Eufaula, AL, and is scheduled to be completed by September 2016. Under the contract, JKM is expected to potentially add 6 employees to its payroll, which will help fuel the lagging economy.

Government officials said the contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with seven proposals received. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Crane, Ind., is the contracting activity.
