US Senator Susan Collins to Visit CM Almy, Pittsfield, Maine February 17, 2010
PITTSFIELD, Maine, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wed. Feb 17 Senator Susan Collins will be visiting the Pittsfield, Maine manufacturing facility of CM Almy, a nationally known manufacturer and direct marketer of church furnishings and supplies, Eucharistic and choir vestments, and clergy apparel.
CM Almy came to the attention of Sen. Collins as a result of its initiatives to provide workplace health and wellness benefits to its 75 Pittsfield employees in addition to conventional medical insurance. The company offers a comprehensive medical and dental plan, and pays 75% of the premium for employees and 55% for employee dependents. As one strategy to reduce the rate of growth in its health-related expenses CM Almy has engaged Workplace Health, which is affiliated with Maine General Medical Center in Waterville, to provide on-location visits weekly by a staff nurse and physician. While Workplace Health focuses primarily on occupational and safety concerns, they are increasingly addressing general health related issues with Almy people. This helps to reduce workplace injury and to improve overall health and safety.
Senator Collins makes it a priority to visit Maine businesses and people whenever she can. She is excited to have the opportunity to see Almy's fine craftsmanship and to hear more about its safety and health programs.
Senator Collins will tour the CM Almy manufacturing facility, meeting and greeting employees during her brief visit between 1:40 pm and 2:40 pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2010.
