ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- It was an emotional homecoming for U.S. Soldier Kevin Patrick, in which he surprised his family in Rochester, New York, in a rare visit home over Thanksgiving. The soldier, who served in Afghanistan and is currently stationed in Fort Bragg, has been unable to be with his family for the holiday for several years since he joined the Army.
The surprise was coordinated in great length by Kevin's sister Kristen, a teacher in Brewster, New York, and made possible by Ashley Furniture HomeStore. The soldier's parents, Wade and Brenda Patrick, believed she nominated them for a Living and Dining Room makeover. The two rooms were redecorated by an Ashley Furniture specialist and during the final reveal, the doorbell rang. Brenda was stunned and speechless when she opened the door and saw her son. He had told her he was jumping that day to keep his certification active.
"I couldn't believe my eyes, we haven't seen Kevin during Thanksgiving for years," said Brenda. "It was a dream come true."

They even got to meet his girlfriend for the first time, during his 3-Day leave from base.
