Usability Sciences Partners with University of North Texas' College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism
New partnership names USC as founding member of UNT's new Global Digital Retailing Research Center
IRVING, Texas, Oct. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Usability Sciences Corporation (USC), a pioneer in usability and user experience research, has been partnered with the University of North Texas' College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism to become a founding member of its Global Digital Retailing Research Center (GDRRC).
The Center, located in Denton, Texas, is the first interdisciplinary center in the U.S. to only focus on digital retailing, says Richard Last, Senior Director of GDRRC and the founder of jcp.com, the first online retailer to do transactional business. It will address issues and problems facing digital retailing, also known as e-commerce, through performing academic and industry research by students and faculty.
"I am thrilled to have Usability Sciences come on as one of our first founding members," said Last. "We share a common passion and partnering with them will give our students a first hand, real world look at the world of digital retailing."
As a founding member, USC will not only serve as the Center's premier usability testing facility, it will help shape the path and priorities of the Center. In addition, USC will offer consulting services, shadowing and internship opportunities for students and something not every college student will have, access to top usability firm and its talent pool while still in school.
"Partnering with Richard and UNT to become a founding member of the Center was an easy decision," said Jeff Schueler, founder and president of USC. "Richard has created a Center unlike any other with the ability to gather both academics and industry professionals for the mutual goal of improving the digital retailing industry and furthering education on the subject."
As well as offering opportunities for the digital retailing industry that were not readily available before, the Center also supports the annual Consumer Experience Symposium. Celebrating its 10th gathering, next year's Symposium on April 10, 2014, will focus on Mobile Commerce.
