Utah Shuttle Bus Service Lewis Stages Celebrates 100 Years In Business!
SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In 1914, Orson Lewis was 16 years old. With a job shoveling salt from the Great Salt Lake he saved enough money to buy his first Ford Model T. Shortly after, Lewis traded in his shovel and began transporting Utah's in that classic Model T. 100 years later, Lewis Stages is one of Utah's oldest and strongest companies!

"I feel very privileged to be a part of a third generation business that has operated every day since 1914. We have never closed, in 100 years!" said Gordon Cummins; Co-Owner of Lewis Stages. "We call it our Century of Service" explained Lewis Stages Co-Owner Richard Bizzaro.
It's hard to imagine all of the challenges a business had to endure over the span of 100 years. The Great Depression, war time, civil rights, the race to space, extreme highs and lows for our country and yet Lewis Stages remains.
Today, Lewis Stages unveils their 100th Anniversary Motor Coach that comes with a price tag of over $500,000-just a tad bit more than Orson Lewis' original Model T. This state of the art 56-passenger motorcoach is the first of its kind in Utah boasting the latest in bus technology, safety and environmental advancements. "I have driven everything there is but this bus is so high tech we have to go through special training just to start it", said Nathan Black a Lewis Stages veteran driver with a career spanning some 30 years. The new coaches are equipped with Utah's first 3-Point Safety belts! The DEF Engine has improved the emissions so significantly you can "hardly smell it" when it's running said Nathan Black. If a driver veers off into another lane, a safety measure vibrates the driver's seat to warn him or her. These new Coaches come with 110 watts of electricity at every seat and Wi-Fi throughout the bus. It's the private jet of the roadways!
Steve Lewis, grandson of Orson Lewis, started washing buses and eventually worked his way up to become the President and CEO of Lewis Stages. "This has been an amazing adventure. I know my grandfather and father would be very proud today."
The Century Of Service coach is arguably the finest coach in Utah and available today only for the press. Take a tour or even a ride around the block. This coach just arrived in Utah and is booked out for several months. By appointment only, Lewis Stages will bring the coach to you carrying with it Steve Lewis and Gordon Cummins who will be available for comments.
