Utilities IT Investment Priorities for Solutions and New Technologies: Results from the Western European Utilities 2013 Survey

This IDC Energy Insights study provides an analysis of the results of the annual IDC Energy Insights Survey covering France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. Analysis is focused on the utilities industry and on 119 interviews carried out between August and September 2013. The purpose of this report is to understand investment plans in IT solutions (both enterprise management and line-of-business solutions) and new technologies. This is the third report of four covering the survey carried out on utilities. The first report describes survey methodology, while the second analyzes ICT budget spending distribution and patterns in evolution, channel selection, and satisfaction with primary IT suppliers among utility enterprises in Western Europe. IDC Energy Insights will publish a fourth report, which will specifically extrapolate and address data regarding utility retailers. The report will be focused on IT investment priorities, budget allocation, IT solutions, and technology priorities.
"Utilities have never been more demanding of their solution investments, expecting cost reductions, enhanced efficiencies, and compliance with futureproof solutions," said Gaia Gallotti, research manager, IDC Energy Insights.
