In view of V-licensing, what is a classic brand?

Only when an image appears very often in front of every customer, and is touchable like small thing such as handkerchief to big things such as car and villa, and when the image is indelible, the brand can be named as classic.

How about China market for licensing business?

After experiencing 10 years' OEM processing period of the Chinese enterprise, with the effect of economic recession of foreign countries, more and more enterprises are beginning to realize the importance of establishing their own brands.

According to the data provided by V-licensing's licensor, the sales area of GMCG in China is- North China occupies 21%, South China occupies 10%, East China occupies 24% and Northeast China occupies 6%, Southwest occupies 4%. The region contributing most is Northeast alongside the coast, and the enterprises in South China and North China. More and more customers doing export business are beginning to pay attention to the ways of sales in Chinese market.  But because the brand construction cannot be approved by customers in short time, thus is refused by purchasing department of supermarket.  By means of cooperating with worldwide famous brand to get customer's trust and welcome in short period is the most effective way of sales, this is also one of the key reason why brand licensing business is fast developing in China.

The classic brand in foreign countries does not suit Chinese people?

Many classic animation, TV series and movies from Europe, US and other countries have been into China from 10 years ago.  The usual way is to introduce the TV series, animation, and then find broadcasting media, then to sell the video in supermarket while getting royalty, in this way to bring up licensee's sale record and expose the image of brand licensing in continuously.

This win-win marketing sales method can bring abundant profit for brand and licensee in the initial period, but the foreign classic image in China can only get profit before and after the TV series is broadcasted.  Once the TV stops being broadcasted, the sale record declines in a vast scale.

Most agents in China have no experience of brand operation, no knowledge of advertising; they got the brand licensing authorization simply by people relationship, and then doing business of brand licensing in mainland China.  These traditional agents all think that images of animation is famous brand and can be licensed in China.  For example, the brand of animation which are very popular in foreign countries began its brand licensing in China right after the TV broadcasts the animation, without any deep digging out and modeling of brand spirit, without any broadcasting to the public of key connotation of what this brand wants to express.  However, a connotation of a brand is the most basic element in term of what a brand should be named as a brand.  If an agent does not know anything about establishment, maintenance and professional operation and popularization of a brand, simply blindly sells the band to the licensee--in this way, it is not helpful for licensee to bring good aspects of brand licensing, but is damaging the brand itself.
