Vale Fertilizers is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vale S.A., which is the world's leading producer of iron ore, and a major producer of nickel, manganese, aluminum, potassium, copper and coal. Vale implemented OAS across its Brazilian operations in 2010 to support its inventory management initiatives. The successful implementation and operation of OAS at Vale was an important factor in the mining giant's decision to implement OAS at Vale Fertilizers.

Vale Fertilizer's operation in Bayovar, Peru is located on one of the biggest phosphate rock deposits in South America.
