Select a Free Paint Sample from More than 3,000 Hues at Facebook.com/ValsparPaint
CHICAGO, Jan. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Valspar wants America to discover the transformative power of color, and to help consumers take the first step, the company today announced The Power in Color Giveaway: 100,000 Valspar paint samples will be offered for free via Valspar's Facebook page to inspire people to bring color into their lives in 2011.
The 8-ounce samples will be accompanied by "Paint Project Starter Kits" that include a roller, a paint pan and coordinating paint chips -- everything needed to make choosing the right colors easy -- as well as a coupon for $5 off a gallon of Valspar at Lowe's stores nationwide for when consumers are ready to start their paint projects.
Beginning Monday, January 17, at Facebook.com/ValsparPaint, one thousand of the free, postage-paid starter kits will be offered each day until all 100,000 have been given away. Consumers must simply click "like" for Valspar Paint to receive the free paint sample and kit.
"Valspar is committed to bringing the transformative power of color to everyone, and what better time to try on a new color than at the start of a new year," says Valspar's color expert, Sue Kim. "Joining a gym and promising to eat well are great resolutions, but a fresh coat of paint can lift our moods, brighten our spirits and transform any room in the house, which is especially important at this time of year when we spend so much time indoors."
Valspar recommends trying a sample as the best first step in any painting project. Paint can appear to change color depending on the light in the room -- whether it's near a window or in a corner, at eye-level or near a baseboard. Designers and decorators often test paint colors before making a final selection by doing a 'roll out.' This can be done at home by applying a Valspar sample to a piece of poster board and watching how the light affects it in different areas of the room.
Additionally, your purchase of Valspar® branded products in 2011 supports Valspar's paint donations to Habitat for Humanity and helps deserving families benefit from the transformative power of color.
