Value Village Exhibit Brings Attention to Clothing & Textile Waste at Seattle's Westlake Center
Thrift Store Shows Need for Textile Recycling on April 18
BELLEVUE, Wash., April 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to educate consumers about the environmental threat of clothing waste and the benefits of textile recycling, Value Village will place a large-scale educational exhibit in Westlake Center on Saturday, April 18. The first-of-its-kind exhibit will be an artistic representation of four people, filled with real clothing and textiles, visualizing Environmental Protection Agency's statistic that the average North American throws out 70 pounds of textiles each year, 95 percent of which could have been recycled.
This interactive, larger-than-life exhibit is part of Value Village's sustained commitment to create a better world through reuse and recycling. Value Village, one of the largest textile recyclers in the world, is responsible for keeping more than 650 million pounds of goods from reaching landfills annually – equivalent in weight to more than 3,000 Boeing 737 airplanes.
