Van Wagner Selects D3 to Build LED Channel Letter Displays for MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ
NEW YORK, Oct. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- D3 LED, LLC (D3), the world's leader in specialized LED digital display solutions, was commissioned by Van Wagner Communications, LLC, the nation's largest privately held outdoor advertising company, to manufacture LED Channel Letter displays for MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, home to the New York Jets and New York Giants. The Channel Letter displays were officially unveiled on September 11th during the 2011 NFL season kick of game held at the stadium.

D3 designed and manufactured two LED Channel Letter displays that measure 13 feet high by 68 feet wide that spell "MetLife." The displays, located at opposite ends of the stadium, were constructed using five diode L-Caps set on a 50mm pitch. Each display is capable of running solid and changing colors, animations and video content. The Company was selected for the project because of its previous experience with building large-scale video capable RGB channel letters, specifically for Forever 21 and Disney Store in Times Square.
"We're pleased that D3's innovative LED display technology is now part of the overall fan experience at MetLife Stadium," said Jason Barak, managing partner, D3. "This is the first of many pro-sports and large-scale entertainment arenas in the U.S. where D3 displays will be present, and we're also growing our digital display portfolio in those markets to match our already strong presence in similar venues internationally through A2D3, our branded sports product line offering."
The stadium officially opened on April 10, 2010, featuring the Big City Classic lacrosse event. In 2011, MetLife, a global insurance provider based in New York, acquired the naming rights to the stadium.
MetLife Stadium is the only active venue to serve as the home stadium for two NFL teams. The 2.1 million square foot stadium was designed by architects Ewing Cole and 360 Architecture, and has the largest seating capacity in the NFL (82,500).
D3 LED displays can be found throughout the world, and the Company is responsible for designing and manufacturing more than 70% of all LED displays in the New York City's Times Square since 2006, including displays for Aeropostale, Quiksilver, Disney Store, JVC, M&M World, ABC Studios, Walgreens, and more.
