VCU and Marshall University Adopt Blackboard's Internet2 NET+ Solutions and Services Offering
Two Universities to Leverage Jointly Created Learning, Analytics and Content Solution
WASHINGTON, Oct. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Blackboard Inc. ("Blackboard") today announced that Virginia Commonwealth University ("VCU") and Marshall University are the latest institutions to reaffirm and expand partnerships with Blackboard by adopting the company's customized learning and analytics offering available exclusively to Internet2's higher education members.
Announced last year, Blackboard's Internet2 NET+ offering was developed in partnership with technology experts at leading institutions in the Internet2 community. The offer provides access to the company's market-leading solutions for teaching and learning, robust analytic and learning outcomes tools, and a cloud-based, cross-institutional content repository.
With the Internet2 NET+ offering, VCU and Marshall University will also have access to Blackboard's educational services, including technology adoption training and managed hosting deployment, providing faster system speeds, greater uptime, and 24x7 access to technical expertise to help with day-to-day system maintenance. This will enable the institutions to better meet student and faculty demands for system accessibility and reliability.
The NET+ offering allows Blackboard to collaborate with the Internet2 community through joint initiatives and research on the effective use of analytics, the collaborative development of open educational resources and flexible but secure identity management, among other topics of critical importance to higher education institutions.
Focused on providing secure, agile and reliable user mobility in the cloud to higher education's diverse users, Internet2 NET+ is a research and education (R&E) community-driven initiative. Through a rigorous peer-driven evaluation process, R&E institutions and cloud service providers work together to develop offerings that maximize deployment efficiencies and minimize the business and legal challenges, financial costs, and technology risks of migrating from on-campus to cloud-based solutions.
