Partnerships with UnderArmour, Gatorade, USA Football
ST. LOUIS, Feb. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Velocity Sports Performance, specializing in advanced sports performance training for athletes of all ages and skill levels, today announced the grand reopening of its center in St. Louis, Missouri, one of over 45 locations across the country. Founded by world renowned coach Loren Seagrave, who has coached Olympic athletes, NFL players and long distance runners, Velocity Sports Performance offers area athletes of all ages advanced sports performance training, helping them increase speed, power, agility and endurance, while preventing sports-related injuries.
The 20,000 square foot training center is located at 17363 Edison Avenue in Chesterfield and includes an indoor Mondo sprint track, speed turf, and Olympic strength area. The center also features physical and sports therapy through PRORehab, P.C.
"Until now, there was an underserved market in this area in terms of scientifically based, age-appropriate performance training, for younger athletes in particular," says Ryan Blum, local CEO/Owner of the Velocity Sports Performance St. Louis center. "We help young people train smarter, earlier, prevent injuries, and meet their dreams of playing elite sports, all while putting the 'fun' back into their activities. We intend to provide the best overall experience and training for athletes, parents, coaches and teams. Velocity St. Louis is 'the place' to train."
Experienced, Quality Coaches
"The level of competition in sports – particularly youth sports -- has risen in recent years and training is important for both maximum performance and injury prevention," says Rob Weatherly, Sports Performance Director. "At the same time, studies tell us that today's youth are the least fit they have ever been. Our program addresses performance improvement, life-long fitness, injury prevention and love of sports. Young kids don't often have the supervision they really need when they are involved in youth sports. We bring expertise in proper strength and conditioning techniques to lower the risk of injury and maximize athletic potential."
Science-based Training
Velocity Sports Performance's scientifically-based training is designed to improve the athletic ability of all age groups, genders and athletic skill levels:
- Student Athletes, ages 7 to 20
- Recreational Adult Athletes
- Elite Amateur Athletes
- Professional Athletes
- Occupational Athletes (Firefighters, Police Officers, Military, etc.)
"We teach athletes the science behind speed and athletics, allowing them to gain maximum power and decrease their chance of injuries," says Loren Seagrave, founder of Velocity Sports Performance. "Our goal is to provide a safe, positive environment that promotes long-term psychological and physical development, leading to increased confidence, character and overall life success."
The center also offers specialized programs:
- Velocity Sports Performance Adult Fitness, an adult targeted program, which delivers fast-paced, high-energy workouts structured for total body conditioning no matter the participant's age or fitness level. Throughout the program, strength, cardio and flexibility tests are used to gauge progress. Every Velocity Sports Performance Adult Fitness workout includes: Active Dynamic Warm-up, Energy System Development and Strength Training.
- Combine360, a multi-faceted athletic testing program developed by IMG Academies in conjunction with UnderArmour.
Athletes typically train two to three times a week, in groups no larger than eight athletes per coach, so that clients receive individualized coaching and personal attention. The athletes are grouped by age and skill level to best motivate and encourage training at optimal levels.
