NEW BRITAIN, Conn., Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- VERTEX, Incorporated, a provider of professional services and innovative software to the insurance and financial services industries, today announced their introduction of an XML Compare Utility Service, VTXcompare™, licensed to business as a web-based service.

Businesses who exchange information electronically often use XML and the Internet because it is less costly than building internal systems and data feeds to each of their external partners. The XML-based exchanges are subject to risk if the data changes in a manner not expected. If left undetected, a change that is incorrect has the ability to negatively impact the business, reduce confidence between exchange partners, and increase technology costs. Isolating the actual change before it is externalized, and reporting the change in Business English, alleviates the risk and ensures the XML data exchange is reliable.
VERTEX's XML Compare Utility Service, VTXcompare™, is designed to mitigate risks that are inherent to changes in data. Most XML compare products in the marketplace today do not account for the flexible nature of XML where the same data can be represented in many ways. It's difficult to determine when two XML documents differ only in semantics which are acceptable differences that do not impose business risk.
VTXcompare™ is a unique solution that compares the semantic equivalency of two or more XML documents, records only the meaningful differences and ignores inconsequential differences such as XML order, system IDs, system keys or ignorable whitespace. The subscriber is able to define certain attributes that should also be ignored during the compare. VTXcompare™, built on Microsoft's .NET technology, applies logic that incorporates the use of pre-defined business intelligence, including entity recognition, against the underlying XML schema.
The comparison results are then presented to the subscriber in Business English for a clear and concise description of what changed and can be printed and presented to a business partner. When the comparison finds no differences, the report displays a clear message that no differences were found.
Suzanne Brazeal, Vice President of VERTEX, Incorporated said, "Our e-Commerce clients presented us with an internal business challenge concerning data integrity and asked if we could help. We involved our clients during the development of the solution so we are confident that what we are bringing to market today solves the challenge they presented to us."
