Vertically Integrated Partnership Donates 120,000 lbs of Potatoes to Northwest Harvest for the 10th Annual Hometeam Harvest Food Drive
VIP partners Sodexo, Hirai Farms, Annie's Fun, McCain Foods and Larson Allen team up to help "Hometeam Harvest"
SEATTLE, Dec. 6, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Vertically Integrated Partnership (VIP) partners Hirai Farms, Sodexo, Annie's Fun, McCain Foods and Larson Allen have teamed up to donate 120,000 pounds of potatoes to Northwest Harvest for the 10th Annual KING 5 Hometeam Harvest Food Drive (http://www.king5.com/video/featured-videos/120000-pounds-of-potatoes-help-feed-the-hungry-111301769.html).
The VIP is a coalition of farmers, food processors, food distributors, food service companies and other companies that are working together to help stop hunger in the Pacific Northwest. Since 2008, the Vertically Integrated Partnership (including Sodexo, Hirai Farms, Annie's Fun, McCain Foods, National Frozen Foods, etc.) has donated nearly 3.5 million pounds of food (i.e., potatoes, sweet corn, onions, beans, canned foods, etc.) to many food banks in the Pacific Northwest, including Northwest Harvest, Food Lifeline, Second Harvest, White Center Food Bank, Bellingham Food Bank, Quincy Community Food Bank, Wenatchee Food Bank, etc. The Vertically Integrated Partnership (VIP) has a goal of donating another 2 million pounds of food in the next 18 months.
Northwest Harvest is Washington's own statewide hunger relief agency. Its mission is to provide nutritious food to hungry people statewide in a manner that respects their dignity, while working to eliminate hunger.
