POWAY, Calif., June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Vet-Stem, Inc. has licensed the exclusive rights for Veterinary Stem Cell Services from adipose tissue in Canada to Chemaphor Inc.  Vet-Stem has been providing stem cell training and services to hundreds of veterinarians in the U.S. and Canada since 2004.  Over 6,000 animals have been treated for arthritis and/or tendon and ligament injuries, many of which were not responding to other treatment methods.

Dr. Robert Harman, CEO of Vet-Stem commented, "Vet-Stem is pleased to be able to offer stem cell services to Canadian veterinarians through this new partnership with Chemaphor.  Canadian veterinarians will have reduced costs for shipping as well as less paperwork for customs clearance.  Chemaphor has an impressive laboratory operation and is developing novel products for the veterinary market which will provide new treatment options for veterinarians."

Paul Dick, CEO of Chemaphor, highlighted that, "this is a fantastic opportunity to combine a novel, demonstrably effective treatment for suffering pets and their owners, while maintaining our focus on providing scientifically supported solutions to veterinarians and their patients."

Vet-Stem expects to transfer Canadian stem cell services to Chemaphor before the end of the year in conjunction with technology transfer and validation.  In the interim, Vet-Stem will continue to provide stem cell services directly to our customers in all Canadian provinces.
