Veteran 3M Employee, Dan Bauer, Joins Scales Advertising New Business Team

Bauer to focus on emarketing

ST. PAUL, Minn., Aug. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Scales Advertising, which has built a reputation for outstanding client relations, announces that its former 3M client, Dan Bauer, has joined the agency as a senior account executive.

Over the past 25 years, Bauer has worked closely with Scales on hundreds of 3M consumer packaging projects. Now, from his new office in the Scales St. Paul headquarters, Bauer will focus on expanding the agency's emarketing capabilities to mid-size consumer manufacturers and suppliers. Dan will collaborate with the Scales Interactive team and Patty Schneider, director of new business development.

Bauer is confident that Scales has the right formula for the unique demands of emarketing, which falls under the umbrella of electronic business transactions. Over the years, he worked very closely with the Scales artwork production team to develop 3M's Electronic Images and Marketing Content Standards, among other related initiatives. "This agency really understands the value of data quality in the virtual marketplace," he said.

While at 3M for almost 40 years, Bauer worked his way up the corporate ladder, leading several key marketing initiatives there, most recently within the Global Data Sync (GDS) department. GDS involves the electronic storage of digital product information in a central data bank. He will continue as an active member of the GS1 Global Registry.

Besides the GDS manager position, he was also an ebusiness and marketing communications manager at 3M. He spent 10 years supervising and managing consumer strategic brands, during which time he supported large accounts like Home Depot, Lowes, Target and Wal-Mart. His overall experience spans several markets, including aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical, fiber optics, government, hardware, office and telecom.
