ViaSat Exede In The Air Service Receives 2014 Via Satellite Excellence Award

(NASDAQ: VSAT), an innovator in broadband and communication technologies and services, is proud to announce its Exede^® In The Air in-flight Wi-Fi^® system received the Via Satellite Excellence Award in the vertical impact category for In-Flight Connectivity (IFC).

ViaSat's high-capacity Ka-band satellite network enables the Exede service to deliver 12 Mbps to each connected passenger, as compared to competing services that only provide a single "bucket" of bandwidth to the aircraft for passengers to share. Comparatively, with the Exede In The Air service, airlines are finding that Wi-Fi take rates on average are three to four times the historical rate, with as many as 148 simultaneous devices connected during one flight.
