NEW YORK, Feb. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- See video from Euroleague at: http://www.thenewsmarket.com/Releases/StoryDetailPage.aspx?GUID=a2ba4ec6-71c0-4dd2-9788-4061be961205#
Already unique in pro basketball history for becoming Euroleague MVP as a bench player, Olympiacos point guard Theo Papaloukas is now aiming for a record that might never be broken: nine Final Fours in a row. He made six consecutive Final Fours between 2003 and 2008 with CSKA Moscow. They won Euroleague titles together at Prague in 2006, with Papaloukas as the Final Four MVP, and again in Madrid two years later. From there, Papaloukas returned to his original Euroleague team, Olympiacos, promptly guiding the Reds to the 2009 and 2010 Final Fours. He shares the current record of eight Final Fours in a row with his friend and ex-teammate J. R. Holden, but since CSKA is already eliminated, the longest streak ever can belong to Papaloukas alone – but only IF he reaches Barcelona – where his streak started in 2003 – once again this spring.
