("VideoPropulsion(R)", OTC:"VPTV"), a world leader in hardware and software solutions for hotel and private cable operators, has begun production shipments of its newest FG-422 FloodGate(R) Appliance using the ViXS XCodeHD(TM) Video Processor to provide high-quality, full HD to full HD transcoding. The FloodGate takes up to eight digital encrypted MPEG4-AVC HD video streams and converts them into Pro:Idiom(R) encrypted MPEG2 (complying to the hospitality Pro:Idiom standard), allowing existing digital televisions to receive HD satellite broadcasts from leading satellite broadcast companies such as DIRECTV(R) and Dish Networks(R).

Most satellite broadcast companies are or will soon be broadcasting all of their HD content in MPEG4-AVC(H.264). Over 1 million flat panel television sets already installed in hotels throughout the U.S. are only able to handle content in MPEG2 format. The FG-422 FloodGate is a cost-effective, multi-channel, high quality HDTV distribution system that allows hotels, hospitals, Private Cable Operators and commercial businesses to utilize high quality MPEG4-AVC HD content while taking advantage of the existing TVs and infrastructures they already have in place.

The powerful XCodeHD(TM) 3390 System on a Chip (SoC) used in FloodGate Server seamlessly handles the MPEG4-AVC to MPEG2 conversion in real-time with excellent output video quality, and at extremely low power. The XCodeHD(TM) 3390 targets highly demanding professional and broadcast applications by enabling Multi-format, Multi-stream HD/SD video & audio Transcoding in either Full Decode/Re-encode or Smart Transcode modes. Integrating a powerful 1000 DMIPS Application Processor, XCodeHD(TM)3390 is able to transcode multiple HD programs in real time while running other system resources simultaneously.
