
Village of La Grange Wins 2014 "Best Places to Live" Honor
CHICAGO Magazine Names La Grange, Illinois Coveted Best Place to Live in April
LA GRANGE, Ill., April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Nestled 20 miles southwest of Chicago, the Village of La Grange with nearly 16,000 residents was recently honored in the April edition of CHICAGO magazine as a Best Places to Live for 2014. This is the second honor for the village by CHICAGO magazine in recent years. In 2009, La Grange was named "Best Downtown" by CHICAGO magazine.
"Metra trains shooting west from Union Station arrive here in 25 minutes, and most of the village amenities—restaurants, high-end shops, a historic movie house are within a half-mile stroll of the station," said Ian Spula, CHICAGO magazine's reporter who wrote the story.
Village officials and residents were thrilled to learn about this wonderful new distinction given to La Grange.
"Our historic district, quality school system, easy transportation, diverse shopping district, low crime, all add up to a first-rate place to live outside of Chicago," said village president Tom Livingston. "Our community's goal is to be the 'Best' everyday in the eyes of residents, business owners and visitors to our village."

The Village of La Grange was incorporated in 1879 and according to the latest Census has 15,608 residents. The Village's business base made up primarily of smaller businesses that provide friendly, personalized service and quality merchandise. In recent years, many dining establishments have chosen to locate in La Grange creating a distinct niche or "restaurant row" for the Village. The business community is an active participant in enhancing the vibrancy of the downtown area by maintaining attractive storefronts and by sponsoring the various annual community events such as the Pet Parade, the Christmas Walk and Fine Arts Festival.
