Viola Chan is named Creative Director of Design for the Oleg Cassini Collection at David's Bridal
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., April 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- David's Bridal, the nation's leading bridal and special occasion authority, is pleased to introduce Viola Chan as the Creative Director of Design for the Oleg Cassini Collection at David's Bridal. It has been 21 years since David's Bridal and the iconic Oleg Cassini brand first began their bridal collaboration.
Viola joined David's Bridal in 2003 and immediately became a valuable contributor to the various bridal collections. Her classic and meticulous design made her a perfect fit with the Oleg Cassini Collection of bridal gowns, which are known for their intricate details and beautiful embellishments. Viola has continued to work on the Oleg Cassini bridal collections, creating wedding dresses that reflect his vision of timeless elegance and style. As Oleg Cassini famously stated, "To be well dressed is a little like being in love."
In Fall 2010 she was named Creative Director of Fashion for the Oleg Cassini Bridal Collection in Turkey and South Africa.
"The bridal gown is one of the most important dresses in a woman's life," Viola said. "It represents love, trust and faith and I love creating a gown that will put a beautiful smile on her face when she finds 'the one.' Her gown is a reflection of her style so it is essential that every last detail is thought through, down to the tiniest bead or button. It is these intricate details that are going to give her a unique wedding day look and make her feel special when wearing the dress."
"David's Bridal is very fortunate to have someone of Viola's talent and creativity working for our company and maintaining the high fashion standards of the Oleg Cassini Bridal Collection," said Ann Acierno, Executive Vice President of Merchandising, Design & Product Development. "Her contributions over the past 12 years to the success of our brands have been invaluable."
From an early age Viola was fascinated with fashion. Her grandfather was in the entertainment industry in Hong Kong where she spent her early childhood, and she often attended movie premieres with him and became fascinated with the style and grace of the actresses. This fascination with movie-star glamour turned out to be beneficial for Viola - when she joined David's Bridal she began working on the Oleg Cassini Bridal Collection, and as everyone knows Oleg Cassini is THE foremost designer in celebrity and Hollywood fashion.
It was while attending boarding school in England that Viola began honing her artistic skills including painting, sewing, knitting and drawing. She worked weekends at a bridal shop where she made cover buttons for bridal gowns and witnessed for the first time the joy a bride-to-be experiences when she finds the gown of her dreams. She then attended the London College of Fashion and was able to work with different design houses through programs at the school as well as travel throughout Europe. It has been her experiences of living in different countries– Hong Kong, England and the United States – that continue to influence her designs.
In addition to receiving her Fashion degree, Viola also has an MBA in Innovation Design Management.
