Already a Gen Z hit with over 21 million TikTok views in just a few weeks, 355 is pushing the boundaries of Broadway, re-imagining musical theater for the social media age.
The plot is based on the true story of Agent 355, a cunning young female provocateur who operated within George Washington's 'Culper Spy Ring,' to outwit British Loyalists. A revolution in musical theater about a revolutionary moment in history, 355 blends the distinctive language, voice and zeitgeist of a generation to bring the untold story of a teenage spy to life.
"The drama was inspired by teen soap operas and set against the musical sounds of my generation. I call it Gossip Girl meets Bridgerton meets Taylor Swift's Eras Tour," says Maddie Price, the 16-year-old phenom and playwright behind 355. For Price, who built a Broadway stage in her bedroom as a small child, the 355 premiere represents the culmination of a lifelong dream. "Since I was a kid I've been obsessed with Broadway, feverishly writing the perfect musical in my head, but wanting to create something that really spoke to my generation."
355's star influencer cast includes TikTokers Sloane Alex, Ashley Barnes and Echo Deva Picone, who've already generated serious buzz via millions of views online. They're joined by accomplished young actors Emmy Liu-Wang and Julian Lerner who round out the impressive cast.
The music was written by Gen-Zers Maddie Price and Mayla Stith, featuring TikTok influencer Echo Picone (Trevor: the Musical), Sloane Alex, Ashley Barnes, Julian Lerner (Zombies 4), Emmy Liu-Wang (Raven's Home), Ben Cavallo-Smith (World's Worst Christmas), Vinya Chhabra (waiting on them), Charles Flaherty (waiting on them), and Tyler Gay (Trevor: The Musical). The band includes standout teen musicians, Joshua Turchin, Miya Schultheis, Mayla Stith, and Ezra Kessler. Creator Maddie Price is a high school student at the innovative Alpha School in Austin, Texas, where students are encouraged to build masterpiece projects around their passions.
