Virtual Festival of Emotional Intelligence Brings Together Global Audience for a New Kind of Conference

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The 3^rd Annual Virtual Festival of Emotional Intelligence is set to begin Monday, March 10. The Virtual Festival of Emotional Intelligence, also known as EQ Week, differs from a typical conference in several ways. Rather than renting out a convention space and asking attendees and presenters to fly in from hundreds or thousands of miles away, the festival takes place entirely in the virtual world during the week of March 10–14. The festival is also less academic in tone, as the topics of discussion cover everything from adapting EQ to business to improving parenting skills.

The list of notable speakers includes luminaries such as Richard Boyatzis, Mary Helen Immordino Yang and Dan Siegel. However, instead of the traditional format in which speakers deliver their message to a rapt but silent audience, the Festival of Emotional Intelligence emphasizes interaction and conversation. Presenters will have complete freedom to arrange sessions however they choose.

Each day, festival webinar sessions will touch upon nearly every domain of modern life, including business, government, education, parenting, life skills and so on. All sessions are recorded and will be available for a month following EQ Week to accommodate those with busy schedules.

The great irony of the age of social networking is that people are, in many ways, becoming less social. Instead of creating genuine connections, people create finely edited versions of themselves. As life becomes more complex and true relationships diminish, the eventual symptoms are no surprise: stress and loneliness are on the rise, as is escapism.
