Virtus Investment Partners to Expand Sales Force

HARTFORD, Conn., Nov. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Virtus Investment Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTS), which operates a multi-manager asset management business, today announced it will expand its wholesaling force by establishing a team of experienced sales professionals to focus exclusively on the independent broker and registered investment advisor (RIA) channels.  The new team will be led by Paul Cahill, sales director, reporting to Jeff Cerutti, executive vice president and head of retail distribution, and is expected to launch in January 2012.

"Virtus has enjoyed robust sales growth over the past three years and this is a natural extension of our business model," said Cerutti, who noted that the company's long-term, open-end mutual fund sales have grown from $2.7 billion in 2009 to $7.1 billion for the nine months ended September 30, 2011.  "The primary responsibility of the new team is to build upon the sales success we have achieved through the national and regional broker-dealers by adding a dedicated focus on supporting brokers at independent firms and registered investment advisors."
