Inclusion in the 2026 Hype Cycle for Monitoring and Observability places the Event Intelligence Solutions category inside the observability research stream itself — evidence that the two disciplines are converging on the same requirement: systems that explain their reasoning before they act.

The eight span six disciplines — monitoring and observability, artificial intelligence, IT operations, infrastructure, service management, and site reliability engineering.

The eighth report is the Hype Cycle for Monitoring and Observability, 2026. Its significance is not the count. Observability and event intelligence have long been described as sequential stages — collect the signals, then reason over them — and vendors have largely sorted themselves into one camp or the other. The EIS profile appearing within the observability Hype Cycle indicates those stages are now being evaluated together, by the same buyers, against the same question: once a platform can see everything, what is it able to conclude, and can a human verify how it got there?
